Stirling residents asked to give feedback on Dog Control Bylaw Amendment

Village Council considers increasing the number of dogs allowed.

wheatMembers of Council are looking to increase the number of dogs a resident can have from 2 to 3, after review committee made recommendation.  On May 7, 2014 Council formed a committee to review the current Dog Control Bylaw No. 423-08 with special focus on Dog Fanciers within the Village.  During the process the review committee looked at the low number of residents registering their dogs and felt that an increase to the limit may bring more people into compliance and may in turn motivate a higher rate of dog license registration and compliance with the Bylaw.  Other considerations for the increase were also discussed including a change in the idea of having just a “family” dog.

Council passed first and second reading of the Dog Control Bylaw Amendment Bylaw No. 457-14 at the October 15, 2014 Council meeting.  Prior to third reading Council is asking for input to the proposed increase from Village residents.  Send written opinions to Council by:
