Year 1 of the Community Hero Award Program.

Village Council is now accepting nominations to recognize community volunteer and leader from our community.  As part of the “Community Engagement” pillar of the Stirling 2020 Strategic Business Plan, Council introduced the Community Hero Award Program last spring.  The goal of the program is to help enhance community pride and recognize individuals and organizations who add value to the Village and its residents.

Award Categories

There are four categories to be recognized:

Community Volunteer of the Year – an individual who exemplifies community service and stands out for their volunteer efforts to improve the quality of life for others in Stirling.

Youth Leader of the Year – an emerging leader who is 17 years of age or younger who through significant accomplishments or other contribution is a role model for their peers.

Business/Organization of the Year – a local business (store front or home occupation) or other organization that makes a difference in the community.

Distinguished Citizen of the Year – an individual who has demonstrated a long term commitment to Stirling and has had a significant impact on daily life in the Village.

Nomination Forms and Process

To be eligible for nomination the candidate must be a resident of the Village of Stirling or must be registered business with the Village.   The nomination form must be filled out and signed by 3 nominators and returned to the Village office by October 1, 2015 .

A selection committee will review the nomination forms and winners will be announced at a later date.  Awards will be presented at a year end appreciation dinner to be held at the end of 2015.
