THANK YOU to all Settler Days Volunteers

A Little Rain didn’t Stop the 2016 Settler Days Weekend

The much needed rain kept things cool for the Settler Days events.  Thursday’s “Music on the Veranda” showcased another successful array of talent.  Most of Friday’s events were moved to the Community Centre and were very well attended.  The teen swim carried on as scheduled at the  pool and ended a little early due to the rain.

Saturday the rain stayed away.  All events went ahead at as planned except for the pancake breakfast which was moved to the Community Centre (just in case there was an early morning rain).  The parade showcased Thelma Perrett, Zelma Romeril and Florance Herget as the honorary parade marshals.  The pool hosted fun games, activities throughout the day and the kids carnival featured a new format and saw hundreds of young ones attend.  The hot dog eating contest saw James Adams repeat as winner and was awarded the $100 prize.  The family dance filled the street with hundreds of people celebrating.  The event ended with one of the best fireworks shows yet.  Thanks to all the volunteers who made the 2016 Settler Days another very memorable weekend.

Thanks to Volunteers

The Village of Stirling thanks all volunteers who helped put on the annual Settler Days weekend.  A weekend full of events requires countless hours of volunteers time to take place and Stirling continues to have many people step forward.  So once again THANK YOU Settler Days Volunteers.
