9 Residents To Run For Village Council

Stirling will hold a General Municipal Election on October 16, 2017.

Nomination day saw 9 people put their name forward to run for the 5 open Village Councillor positions.  These names are unofficial until noon on Tuesday, September 19, 2017.  Candidates are listed in alphabetical order:

Any eligible voter may request to examine nomination papers during regular Village Office hours and in the presence of the returning officer, deputy or secretary.

Election Day

Election day is Monday, October 16, 2017 and voting will held at the Stirling Community Centre from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.  The Community Center is located at 409 – 2nd Street.

Advance Vote Day

Residents can vote during the Advance poll day on Monday, October 2, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Village Office.

**I.D. required to Vote**

All Residents will have to show identification to vote.  It will not matter if the Election Official knows you, knows who you are, is related to you or even if someone can vouch for you.  YOU WILL HAVE TO SHOW ONE OF THE APPROVED I.D.’S TO GET A BALLOT AND BE ABLE TO VOTE.  Click this link to see approved I.D. info:  Voter Eligibility Identification Requirements

Voter Eligibility

A person is eligible to vote in the election if:

  • the person is at least 18 years old;
  • the person is a Canadian citizen;
  • the person has resided in Alberta for the six consecutive months immediately preceding election day; and
  • the person’s place if residence is located in the Village of Stirling on election day.
