Transfer Station Hours

The Village of Stirling Transfer station is owned and operated by Chief Mountain Regional Solid Waste Services Commission.  It is located at the North end of 8 Street.

Year Round Hours (January – December)
Tuesday:  4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.*
Saturday:  9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.*

The Village curbside garbage collection program runs every Wednesday (except for statutory holidays – collection will be the next work day).  Bins must be out by 7:30 a.m. on collection day and returned to the property before 10:00 p.m. on the same day.  Bins are for household garbage only and must be bagged before it is placed in the bin.  No construction material or yard waste is permitted in the bin.

1. Domestic garbage only.
2. No liquid wastes.
3. No toxic or hazardous wastes (eg: flammable liquids or solids, or any substance considered to be toxic or hazardous).
4. All white goods (such as clothes dryers, fridges, ovens, air conditioners, etc. [as they were originally only available in white]), metal, or scrap wood is to be disposed of at a Special Waste Location (the nearest Transfer Stations are located in Raymond and New Dayton).
5. Large items such as PVC pipe, vinyl siding, etc., are to broken into 4-foot pieces.  Placement of larger items such as couches, mattresses, box springs, rolls of carpet, large volumes of plastic sheeting (eg.: silage cover) or other such items (as to be determined by the Station Operator) are to be placed separately against the right-hand side of the building (outside only if there is not sufficient room in the building).
6. Demolition/Renovation materials are accepted at the Transfer Stations at a rate of one (1) pick-up truck per day.  Contractors must bring their construction waste directly to the Landfill site.  There is a disposal fee for these items.
7. Twine is to be piled separately as directed by the Station Operator.
8. Burning barrels and/or contents will be refused at the Transfer Station building.  The Station Operator will allow the contents from a burning barrel if they are completely extinguished to be placed in the burn pit if one is available on site, but never in the building.  All cooled burning barrels must be placed in the metal disposal area on site.
9. Small animals will be accepted only if placed and sealed in plastic bags.  Larger animals will not be accepted.
10. No person shall dispose of straw, hay, rock, brick, cement or dirt in the Transfer Station building.
11. No scavenging is permitted at the Stirling Transfer Station, unless authorized by the Village of Stirling.  All items or waste placed in the Station site becomes property of Chief Mountain Regional Solid Waste Services Commission.
12. Tires are not accepted at the Stirling Waste Transfer Station.  The nearest Transfer Stations that will accept tires are located in Raymond and New Dayton.
13. The Stirling Transfer Station does have a paint recycling program – check with the Station Operator.
14. Transfer Station Operators have the right to inspect any load.  They may refuse any waste that, in the judgement of the Station Operator, should be rejected by reason of unknown content that may be a hazard.
