Drones and Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems
Flying Drones and Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems in the Village of Stirling
As warmer weather arrives, we know many residents and visitors are eager to get outdoors and enjoy recreational activities—including flying drones and Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS). The Village of Stirling encourages the responsible use of these devices, and we’d like to take this opportunity to remind everyone of a few important considerations.
Respect Regulations and Privacy
Drone and RPAS operators must always be mindful of privacy and safety. Please take the time to review guidelines and ensure that your flights are legal, respectful, and safe for others. In particular:
- Communicate with property owners—if you’re planning to fly near/on private land or public spaces, it’s best to check in and get consent.
- Respect people's privacy—if you're flying near or on private property, or in areas where people are gathered, always seek permission and be mindful of how your drone or RPAS use may affect others.
- Know where it’s safe to fly—make sure the area is designated for drone and RPAS use and free from restricted airspace.
Check Before You Fly
To help you plan a safe and enjoyable flight, we encourage you to use the Government of Canada’s interactive map to confirm approved locations for flying drones or RPAS and to familiarize yourself with local and federal expectations.
