Kiosk Survey: Information

Good Morning,

The Village posted a survey asking for public feedback related to if they supported a specific financial investment in the structural restoration of the Kiosk located at the corner of Hwy 846 and 4^th Avenue.  The reason for this, is the Kiosk has been a topic of conversation within Council for a number of years and Administration, at the end of the last Council’s term was asked to obtain a costing to rehabilitate the building and provide a survey to the community to see if they’d support this level of expenditure into the Kiosk.  The reason for this, is Council generally hears from one side of a question, but was hoping to understand the feeling of the broader Communities perspective on using tax dollars in this location.  The question was finite and specific as there has not been any decision made around the Kiosk and the only detail this question was meant to ask was would the community support this investment in this location.  There currently is not any additional information to provide, but what can be said is the Village will not lose its National Historic Site Designation whether Council chooses to make the investment or not; no other concepts are currently being considered for the site at this time; and the survey will not be the only factor taken into consideration for Council to make this decision.  This is only one portion of the information they will be provided to make a completely informed decision. There have been community groups who have also presented their thoughts and Council is taking those thoughts into meaningful consideration as well when they choose to address this topic.  Administration would like to thank those of you who have already participated in the survey and would encourage everyone to have your opinion heard.  We’d also like to encourage anyone with questions or concerns, with not just the survey, but anything related to the Village to contact our office and speak with staff.  We would rather empower everyone with information and make sure your questions are answered, than have people wondering.  If you have any further questions regarding the survey or anything else Village related please contact us at the office 403-756-3379 or office@stirling.ca
